Braun MM2

I’ve been looking for a mid-century piece for sometime now but as its the fad right now everything has become really pricey. I was on my way out of Saugus when this piece caught my eye. I actually had to double back for it when I realized it said Braun on the bezel. After some quick yet confrontational haggling, I was the proud owner of a mid-century record console. To my amazement, the radio worked perfectly despite being a tube set. It has a couple of radio types in it including FM, two shortwaves and a broadcast mode but there are some radio buttons which I have no idea what they are for. Took some time messing with the record player, seems to have been ceased up but it works perfectly now. Just slap a record on top of the spindle and it does the rest on its own. I had to refinish it but it sure shines now. I only payed $80 for it.

Olympus Pen S 3.5

This little camera has certainly seen better days. Found it among a junk dealer in Saugus. With the updated release of the Olympus Pen series, these cameras have been popping up on my radar alot. I really didn’t know anything about these old Pens but my gut told me to buy it. I’ve been told that this 3.5 version is kind of rare among Olympus Pens but like I said, I really have no clue. It kinda works but you can tell it really needs a CLA. In the end its a pretty neat little camera and for $5, I couldn’t have gone wrong.

Panasonic Dynamite 8

I’ve always seen these 8-track players around the web on design sites. Its pretty cool for it being from the 1970’s. It works fine despite the the audio quality of 8-track being rubbish, definitely wont be satisfying any audiophiles with this one. The handle is a little broken but nothing I can’t fix. Found it in a Goodwill in La Cañada for $20.

Tyco Lego Phone

This is an online find. Found it on the  ShopGoodwill website, which is where I’ve bought some of my coolest finds. I’ve always been a fan of Lego so this was an interesting find. It was very dirty when I received it. I had to clean it up a little first to use it. Phone works fine and the cool part is that there is a little drawer on the side so you can put your Lego’s inside. How cool is that? No one bid on it so I was able to buy it for a dollar but shipping bumped it up to eight dollars, still not bad for a Lego phone.

Kirch Atomic Clock

Found this clock at a local Salvation Army. It was in pretty bad shape. A good number of the fins were missing and the glass was severely scratched. After re-arranging the fins into a good design, I buffed out the scratches with toothpaste. It works people, try it. It really stands out on my wall. I love it, the red just seals the deal for me. Bought it for three in a half dollars.
